Rastila, located on the edge of Turenki, is just a stone’s throw from both the Turenki township and the Helsinki-Tampere highway. Nearby, there are beautiful outdoor opportunities provided by the ridge. The focal point of Rastila is the village house located in the village, where the village association holds meetings and organizes other events. The village house is also rented out to outsiders for parties and other events.

History

The village of Rastila previously belonged to the municipalities of Vanaja and Kilpiälä in Janakkala, but due to the regional merger in 1967, Rastila also became part of Janakkala. There are records of the villages dating back to the 1500s. A sign of ancient settlement is, for example, the sacrificial stone located on Raimansuokallio.

The farms have been under the management of the same families since the 1800s until 1968, when, among other things, the Lemola and Laurila farms were transferred to the ownership of the Turenki Sugar Factory due to a sale. The municipality of Janakkala purchased the lands of the sugar factory in the 1990s, and the municipality planned the Rastikangas industrial area, which has seen industry and a large logistics center develop in the 2000s.

The Rastila and Kilpiälä village association was established in 1989. The village association has been managing the Rastila-Kilpiälä village house for nearly 20 years.

The village house is rented for various celebrations and events. Additionally, the village association has, among other things, tableware for about 60 people, tablecloths, and karaoke equipment for event organizers.

Jogging in the ridge scenery, skiing, downhill skiing, mountain biking, dog activities, and horseback riding.

• Raimansuo on Suurisuon ohella toinen Janakkalassa oleva luonnontilainen ja rauhoitettu suokokonaisuus. Suo jää Janakkalan ja Hämeenlinnan puolella olevien pitkittäisharjumaastojen väliin, ja sen vieressä on kauniit lammet Likolampi ja Sälilampi. Suon läpi kulkee polku ja pitkospuut, maasto on paikoitellen hyvin kosteaa. Pitempää reittiä kaipaava retkeilijä voi vaeltaa suolle Kalpalinnan ja Annakkatornin harjumaastojen kautta ja jatkaa suolta Hämeenlinnaan.
