Hyvikkälä is a village for active people who enjoy the outdoors. There are plenty of hiking and riding trails, and the Hyvikkälä River flowing through the village is part of Janakkala’s canoeing routes. There is a common swimming spot by the shore.

Hyvikkälä is an old village with records dating back to the 15th century. In Hyvikkälä, a buried “sword man of Janakkala” was found around the year 1300.

Hyvikkälä is located in western Janakkala. It is 6 km to Linnatuuli, 12 km to the towns of Turenki and Tervakoski, 15 km to Rengon Church, and about 20 km to Hämeenlinna. The nearest primary schools are in Tarinmaa and Viralassa. The village has about 200 inhabitants.

The settlement is situated along the old road from Janakkala Church to Renko. The Hyvikkälä River, which flows from Haapajärvi to Kernaalanjärvi, and its riverside cultivations are a distinctive feature of the village landscape.

The village association and VPK organize events annually, including a porridge party and an athletic summer event. In summer, volleyball and beach volleyball are played on the village field, and workout sessions are held. In the autumn, a reading group meets at VPK. The atmospheric VPK house is the gathering place of the village. Nearby, there is a sports field, a playground, and a shelter that can accommodate larger groups at once.
