Löyttymä has historically had a manor whose owners included the well-known professor and statesman Leo Mechelin in the 19th century. Artists Helene Schjerfbeck and Maria Wiik also influenced the manor’s surroundings. The artist professor Onni Oja is also from Löyttymä. His memorial plaque is located on the side of the stone in front of the school.

The eastern shore of Lake Mallinkaisten is untouched, largely wild, and regionally important recreational area. The most significant sites, such as the ash grove by the shore of Saparo, are protected due to their natural values. On the municipality-owned shores, there are three lean-tos for recreational use and a marked nature trail.

Löyttymä has a joint village association with Jokimaa.
