New strategy

Janakkala’s current municipal strategy is in force until the end of 2025. With the new council term we are preparing a new strategy, which will be adopted in December 2025.

Municipal Act section 37
A municipality must have a municipal strategy in which the council decides on the municipality’s long-term objectives for operations and finances.
The municipal strategy must take into account:
1) the promotion of the wellbeing of the municipality’s residents;
2) the organization and provision of services;
3) the service objectives prescribed by laws concerning the municipality’s duties;
4) ownership policy;
5) personnel policy;
6) the residents’ opportunities for participation and influence;
7) the development of the living environment and the area’s vitality.
The municipal strategy must be based on an assessment of the municipality’s current situation and future changes in the operating environment and their effects on the implementation of the municipality’s tasks. The municipal strategy must also define how its implementation will be evaluated and monitored.
Section 110 governs how the municipal strategy is taken into account in preparing the municipal budget and financial plan. The municipal strategy is to be reviewed at least once during the council’s term of office.
