The Tarinmaa region (Tarinmaa, Pappilankylä, Räikälä, Hakoisten, Kernaala, Monikkala, Nuoliala, Iso-Hiiden, Tuulensuu, and Kovero areas) is a peaceful rural environment closer to everything than you might think. In Tarinmaa, the Middle Ages and modern times meet seamlessly, with the Church of St. Lawrence and the Laurinmäki tenant museum serving as the focal point of the area. At the Tarinmaa village school, children study not only in classrooms but also in an alternative environment amidst stunning nature.

The Church of St. Lawrence plays an essential role in the activities of the congregation, but it also hosts numerous wonderful concerts every year. The church boasts exceptionally beautiful organs, constructed by the organ builder Martti Porthan from Tervakoski.

To the south of the church lies the Laurinmäki museum area, where several buildings from Janakkala have been relocated. The museum area also features a nature trail that takes visitors through varied terrain to historic sites. In the Räikälä inn estate, there are two sacrificial stones and an ancient spring of St. Lawrence, which was likely used for the worship of Taar before the arrival of Christianity. To the east of Räikälä, Määkynmäki has fortifications built by Russians from the First World War.

Tarinmaa Fire Department was established in 1927. In 1932, a community house was built, and a support association was established to manage the property. In the early days, evening activities were lively, and in the 1950s, the house became well known as a dance venue. The building remained in good condition even though its use declined from the 1960s onward. Thanks to grants from the Ministry of Education and volunteer work at the turn of the millennium, the building received new exterior cladding, indoor toilets, and other improvements. The banquet hall is in its original condition. Due to its proximity to the church, the house is well-suited for hosting weddings and other family celebrations. The main heating in the hall is by stoves, which limits its use during the heart of winter.
