Special Education

Part-time special education is provided by a special education teacher. Special education can take place as co-teaching in the student’s home classroom or in the special education teacher’s own classroom.

Tervakoski School has two comprehensive special education teachers and two special class teachers. The school’s special education resources are distributed to serve as wide a student base as possible. This practically means that all four special education teachers work flexibly as needed: there are scheduled small group classes, co-teaching classes, and individual rehabilitation sessions. Special education focuses on the Finnish language and mathematics, as well as English in the higher grades.
