The largest urban areas in Janakkala are Turenki and Tervakoski, where Janakkala’s services are concentrated. Both have all the everyday shopping services, a library and a library bus that travels around the municipality, a health center, a veterinarian, as well as cafes and restaurants. Tervakoski also has a cinema, swimming pool and Puuhamaa, while Turenki offers more retail services, such as the versatile Tokmanni and Alko. In addition to the urban areas, there are many villages, many of which have active village associations that organize various activities for residents and visitors.
