Municipal executive’s budget proposal: Next year’s financial outlook improved slightly
Janakkala municipal executive made (27.10.2026) very modest changes to the chief executive’s budget proposal. The most significant change was an increase of 50,000 euros for all plan years to the service agreement used to purchase business services from Janakkala Business Development Ltd.
– The unanimous decision shows the municipality’s will to invest in business services and thereby increase our vitality, says the chair of the municipal executive Reijo Löytynoja.
Another major change was a reduction of KEVA’s payment share by about 300,000 euros, which slightly improved the combined result of the municipality and the Janakkala Water municipal enterprise. The result for 2027 is now about 300,000 euros in deficit.
In total, more than ten amendment proposals were made to the budget, among them a proposal to cancel the closure of Virala and Tanttala schools. The proposal was defeated in a vote, 6–3.
– Overall, the municipal executive held thorough and factual discussions on the whole, and the investments were scrutinized closely, Löytynoja continues.
The investment for the second phase of the Turenki school center remained at 13 million euros, and in Tervakoski efforts will be made to quickly assess the condition of the so-called E-wing of the coeducational school, so that planning for the second phase of the school center in Tervakoski can also proceed.
– These two budget days were truly constructive and cooperative — this is a good basis to continue from, says chief executive Riikka Moilanen.
The council will review and approve the final budget on 16.11.2026.
