Gingerbread contest is coming again!

In honor of Janakkala’s 160th anniversary year, the gingerbread competition returns in November 2026.

This time the theme is free, but the work must include the gingerbread municipal mascot The Ilves. Participants will receive the Ilves mold to keep as well as a package of gingerbread dough provided by S-Market Turenki. The works will be on display starting December 7 on the municipality’s website and at S-Market Turenki.

The competition has two categories: an open category and an under-15 category. The winner of each category will be chosen by public vote and awarded a 100-euro gift card to a Janakkala-based business chosen by the winner. The competition can be entered individually or as a group. The public vote will be held both at the S-Market Turenki and online.

Registration for the competition opens on Monday October 19 at 8:00 and a link to the registration form will be published on the gingerbread competition page.

Competition schedule

19.10.–1.11.: registration for the competition.
2.–8.11.: pick up the dough and mold from the S-Market in Turenki.
30.11.–6.12.: delivery of the gingerbread works to S-Market.
7.–17.12.: works on display at S-Market and online voting.
Your work must be picked up by 20.12.
