Terms of use for facilities
Janakkala municipal library rents facilities to external operators for various events. Janakkala municipal library comprises Janakkala main library and the Tervakoski library. The main library has five rentable spaces: an exhibition space, the library foyer, a teaching room, the group room Vinkkeli, and a café + kitchen.
1.1 Library spaces
- The library has rentable and open spaces.
- Events held in the open space must be agreed on a case-by-case basis with the library.
- Reservations for rentable spaces must be arranged with the library staff.
1.2 Facilities, equipment and furniture
- The maximum capacity indicated for the space must not be exceeded.
- The person responsible for the booking must ensure that the door is locked when the space is vacated.
- When leaving, the responsible person must ensure that no unauthorised persons remain in the space.
- The furniture arrangement of the reserved space may be changed, but it must be returned to its original layout during the reservation period. Chairs and tables taken from the chair storage must be returned to the places from which they were taken. The foyer’s grand piano must not be moved.
- Staff must be notified immediately of malfunctioning or broken equipment and other technical problems.
- In problem situations, contact the library staff first while the library is open. Outside the library’s opening hours, contact the property maintenance on-call service.
- In disturbances, contact the security company. Contact details are on the sliding door of the main library.
1.3 Responsibility and liability for damages
- The event organiser is responsible for the use of the space and for maintaining order.
- The event organiser is liable for any damage caused to the building or movable property in the reserved space during the reservation period. Damages must be reported immediately to library staff.
- A fee will be charged for any cleaning or rearrangement work resulting from the use of the premises, based on the costs incurred.
- The library is not responsible for damage to customers’ own instruments, devices or files that occurs during the use of the premises.
- The library is not responsible for items left in the library’s premises.
1.4 Content and nature of events
- The content or nature of the event must not conflict with Finnish law or be contrary to good practice.
- Spaces will not be rented for racist or otherwise discriminatory activities. The event organiser agrees to follow the principles of a safer space that apply in the premises.
- During the election silence period, public events organised by individual political parties are not allowed.
- Use of the library premises must comply with the Assembly Act (22.4.1999/530) and official guidelines for public spaces and the instructions and regulations issued by the police and the rescue services.
- An event held in the premises must not disturb other library activities, customers or users.
1.5 Free library spaces
The library’s free spaces are available for use during the library’s opening hours, but users of the spaces must follow the library rules.
1.6 Compliance with terms of use
The library has the right, if necessary and at its discretion, to refuse the event organiser access to a reserved space or to interrupt an event held in a reserved space if it appears that the above rules are being or have been violated.
