Welcome to the clubs of Turenki Community School for the 2024-2025 school year!

The diverse autumn clubs will conveniently start after the school day ends, and most of them will be held in or near the school premises. All clubs are free of charge. We recommend registering for the clubs as early as possible, even if the club starts later. Clubs can fill up quickly. More detailed schedules for some clubs will be announced later. For inquiries regarding the clubs, please primarily contact the club leaders. Spring 2025 Clubs:

Welcome to the orchestra club!

The new season of the Turenki Community School’s orchestra club starts on Monday, September 2, 2024.

All students and teachers who enjoy music and are interested in playing together are welcome to join.

The orchestra’s repertoire is diverse and includes all kinds of music, from traditional celebration songs to hit songs. Arrangements for the pieces will be made according to each orchestra member’s skill level. All interested participants will be included in the orchestra, and there is also an opportunity to join as a vocalist. The orchestra will perform at school events and celebrations.

 

  • Rehearsals are held during the 3rd period on Mondays and the 4th period on Tuesdays from 14:05 to 15:15 in music classroom P4.

A series of three sessions focusing on strength training for different body parts, using body weight, free weights, and gym equipment.

Club members can purchase a membership card after club sessions with the following offers:

  • 3 months for 60 € + deposit (6 €, for new cards) (normal price 3 months 80 €)
  • 6 months for 100 € + deposit (6 €, for new cards) (normal price 6 months 120 €)

Participation in the club is required to purchase the card at the discounted price.

The group size is a maximum of 8 students.

Thursdays from 14:00 to 15:00 at Kuumola House (Kuumolantie 11, 14200 Turenki).

Access to the club is through the first door on the long side when coming from the school.

Registration ends on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, and after the registration period ends, you will be informed via email whether the club will take place or not.

This club is intended for ninth graders, and the goal is to prepare for the highlight of spring, the ninth-grade gala. In the club, we will prepare and produce a ninth-grade video, plan the catering for the day, the program, brainstorm and execute the decoration for the gala, as well as the awards in collaboration with the student council. The club is divided into different working groups, from which you can choose your favorite or be involved in several working groups.

  • The Ninth Grade Gala Club will meet during the 4th and 5th periods.
  • The first meeting is on Monday, February 10, 2025, at 14:10 in classroom P9. Welcome!
  • The following meeting times will be agreed upon together with the club members.

For those considering long mathematics.

We will review and deepen mathematics with the goal of facilitating the transition to the long mathematics curriculum.

We will explore different dance styles and techniques, such as show dance, musical dance, and contemporary dance. Open level, suitable for everyone, whether you have previous dance experience or not. The dance club starts with a warm-up and technique exercises, followed by choreography practice. During the spring, we usually manage to learn about 2-4 different choreographies. It is recommended to come to the class in comfortable, loose clothing that allows you to sweat, and you can dance barefoot or in socks.

In the African cooking club, we will prepare exotic dishes, including different African, European, and Indian foods, such as spiced rice, pondu, meat sauce, bean sauce, ugali (fufu), potato sauce, and fried banana, etc. We will also fry chapati and pancakes and bake brioche buns and many other dishes depending on the season.

The club can accommodate a maximum of ten participants.
