Rules of Vähikkälä School

Duties of the student as defined in the Basic Education Act (628/1998):

  • The student must participate in instruction.
  • The student must complete assignments conscientiously and behave appropriately.

Living Together

  • I treat everyone kindly and fairly.
  • I help others when needed.
  • I behave appropriately according to the place and situation, also outside of school.
  • I say please, thank you, and sorry, and greet others politely.

At School

  • I respect my own work and the work of others.
  • I listen carefully to instructions and teaching.
  • I respect others’ right to work in peace.
  • I move calmly indoors and use a moderate voice.
  • During recess, I play in ways that make it enjoyable for everyone.
  • I follow good table manners during meals.
  • I bring appropriate study materials and equipment.
  • I ensure I don’t bring items considered dangerous to school.

Environment and Property

  • I take responsibility for keeping the environment clean and safe.
  • I treat school property with care.
  • I look after school supplies.
  • I respect other people’s belongings.
  • I use my phone or other personal devices only with the teacher’s permission.

Responsibility

  • I take responsibility by admitting my actions and trying to understand their consequences.
  • I make amends for actions that go against the rules.
  • I take responsibility for myself and others.

In resolving conflict situations, we use the VERSO mediation model and KiVa School program. The school also applies disciplinary actions outlined in the Basic Education Act and Decree when necessary.
