In our high school, there is a project underway in the school year X that improves well-being and provides additional support for pedagogical solutions.

Finest Future

Janakkala High School is participating in the Finest Future program, where foreign students complete a three-year high school education in Finnish. The second group started their studies in the academic year 23-24. All students from last year’s group continue their studies.

From the High School in Janakkala

The goal of the From the High School project is to build a stable bridge for young people in need of support from the spring of the ninth grade through high school studies to further education.

At Janakkala High School, a clear and effective model of enhanced guidance is implemented, which helps more students achieve their goals in completing high school studies and transitioning to higher education.

Letting skills flourish

We strive to increase the accessibility of high school education among young people with immigrant backgrounds and to seek new ways to enhance educational guidance.

We are developing a sufficiently supported high school path for young people with immigrant backgrounds who are completing their high school studies in developing Finnish.

Everyone’s home

The project allows high school students to develop their international skills. Skills are strengthened in the school’s own operational culture, in broad-based competency implementations, and in the studies of all subjects. These include, for example, interaction skills, global and cultural competence.

Internationality broadens the young person’s worldview and experience. Attention is paid to deepening cultural understanding. By utilizing home internationality, students are guided towards active international engagement.

The project develops a global citizen’s attitude, language skills, and collaboration and teamwork skills. It provides opportunities for encounters, lifelong learning, and creates interest in new possibilities.

Towards more language-conscious pedagogy and operational culture

The goal is to increase staff understanding of language-conscious culture and teaching. After the training, each teacher understands that they are also a language teacher in the context of their own subject. The training enhances teachers’ understanding of the importance of multiculturalism in the educational community. Through the training, educational institutions will better recognize cultural differences than before. Participants in the training will comprehensively and actively create a diverse and anti-racist learning environment.

Training project at the Tervakoski campus

The Learning Coach for High School training organized by Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences challenges high school teachers to abandon the culture of solitary learning and find new motivational methods for traditional high school teaching.
