The municipal executive proposes closing four schools

The municipal executive decided on the school network on April 13, 2026.
In accordance with the proposal for decision, the municipal executive proposes to the municipal council that four schools be closed: Heinäjoki and Vähikkälä schools in summer 2026 and Tanttala and Virala schools in summer 2027. The decision was reached by voting in the case of each school.

The citizens’ referendum initiative on the school network was also rejected by vote, in accordance with the proposal for decision.

The school network and the referendum will be decided by the municipal council on April 27, 2026.
