The council approved the principles for the sale of buildings
At its first meeting of the autumn term the municipal council approved (31.8.2026) changes to the terms of transfer for the Välirasti II plot located in Rastikangas. The plot is reserved for a data center project.
This is a project significant for local vitality, whose implementation prerequisites are assessed as a whole. In such situations it is reasonable to review contract and transfer terms from the perspective of promoting the project.
Regarding the building obligation, among other things the expiry of the building obligation period (3 years) is tied to the legal validity of the building permit, and not to the moment of transfer of the property (sale or lease agreement).
Sikovuori to be auctioned
The municipal council approved that the Sikovuori property located along Hausjärventie in Turenki, which is unnecessary for the municipality (1.5 ha + buildings in poor condition), will be sold by auction. The property engineer was authorized to accept or reject the highest bid and the sale can be executed immediately after the auction concludes.
The matter was voted on after Eini Nurmi made an amendment proposal that the item be returned for further preparation and that the possibility of zoning several residential properties on the area owned by the municipality be investigated to provide diverse plot opportunities. However, the original proposal became the municipal council’s decision.
Sales principles for municipal buildings
The municipal council also approved the general sales principles (in Finnish) for buildings. The aim of the principles is to create a consistent, transparent and lawful process that is based on the needs indicated by the property plan and the service network plan, on the use of market valuation and on open competition. In addition, the principles define the division of powers and the procedures for granting a special-purpose transfer price to local associations.
At the meeting it was added to the principles that school buildings together with their plots are an exception, for which the buyer will be primarily local non-profit associations and foundations.
The municipal council also decided to continue granting the municipality’s direct guarantee for the loan to Janakkala Homes Ltd.
