Taara Market and Arts take over Laurinmäki on August 1, 2026

Taara Market and Arts invite people of all ages who love history, cultural heritage and art to spend an experiential summer day at Laurinmäki on Saturday August 1 from 14:00 to 18:00. In this free, family-friendly event the traditional old-time market will fill the museum area with activities, craft traditions, music, storytelling and art experiences.

During the day at Laurinmäki visitors can experience a varied program from accordion music to nature games, bubble shows, circus and theater. In addition, visitors can take part in traditional workshops, explore the market stalls and adventure along the art trail in Laurinmäki’s nature.

National costumes airing at Laurinmäki

This year at Taara Market there will be a special airing of national and historical costumes as part of the program. Everyone dressed in national or historical costumes is invited to gather in front of the museum cottage from 15:30 to 16:00 for a group photo and, if they wish, to share stories about their costumes.

The event organizers hope for a large turnout of national costume owners and encourage spreading the word to friends of traditional garments.

Program for the whole family

The event program tent on the museum area’s lawn will offer during the day, among other things:

  • 14:00 Opening: Treasures of accordion music – accordion virtuoso Rosa Niittyviita
  • 14:30 Hepokönkään Höppänätonttu’s nature songs and games for all ages (from baby to grandparent)

  • 16:00 Peppiina Pitkätossu’s magical adventure – acrobatics, circus, music and theatre for the whole family
