Self-service library and vandalism

Self-service use at the Main Library has brought up unpleasant side effects. There has been vandalism, mess and damage in the premises. In addition, people who have not signed in are being systematically allowed into the self-service library. This happens both intentionally and unintentionally. The self-service library offers the freedom to use the library during extended opening hours, but freedom comes with responsibility. So please consider carefully whether you use the library on your own, how you use it, and encourage other customers to follow the self-service library rules.

Please read these most important rules

  1. You must sign in personally to the self-service library with your library card and PIN code. The only exception is children under 15, who may enter the self-service library accompanied by their guardian. They must leave at the same time.
  2. You must not let others in with the same door opening. Everyone must sign in. It is for everyone’s safety. When you leave, look back and make sure no one slips in through the open door as you exit.
  3. If others enter and refuse to leave, it is your responsibility to report the matter to the security company. The phone number can be found in the library.

Let’s take care together to keep the self-service library open in the future. Otherwise we will have to consider restrictions affecting the entire self-service library.
