Schools are preparing for the arrival of new pupils
At the Heinäjoki and Vähikkälä schools, classes are now in their final weeks. In Tervakoski and Turenki, preparations are underway to welcome pupils transferring from those schools in August.
At the moment class groupings are being made at the schools, which will be published during May. After the class groupings, planning of the autumn timetables can begin. Once the timetables are ready, the transport coordinator can start work in earnest planning the school transport routes. Decisions for pupils who require transport will, as usual, be made around the turn of July and August before the schools start.
The schools in Turenki and Tervakoski want to emphasize that children are very welcome at the schools and that the schools’ pupils are excited about their new classmates. In both schools the pupil council has made a welcome video for the village schools’ pupils and teachers, and the pupils have crafted various welcome decorations.
The school staff are also highly committed to working on group cohesion, and the principals trust that, as education professionals, they will be able to take the situation into account when the new pupils begin at their new schools in August.
Additionally, during this and next week orientation events for guardians and pupils will be held at the new schools. In both schools there is an evening event for guardians and pupils, and the pupils will have their own orientation during the school day with their familiar teachers.
