Notice regarding uncancelled care appointment bookings
Dear guardians!
In early childhood education, everyday activities are planned according to the care time reservations made for the children. Staff vacations and meal orders, among other things, are confirmed based on those reservations. To ensure planning matches actual needs as closely as possible, it is important that reservations are canceled immediately if they are not used. When reserved care times go unused and are not canceled in time, staffing is unnecessarily overestimated and food is ordered unnecessarily, which also increases food waste.
We have received feedback in the annual customer surveys about the number of substitute staff and turnover. When reservations for care during holiday periods are more reliable, permanent staff can concentrate more of their holidays to those vacation periods, which reduces the need for substitutes at other times.
The client fee law for early childhood education (1503/2016) allows a fee to be charged in situations where a reserved early childhood education place is not used and the reservation has not been canceled. Several municipalities and cities have already adopted this practice for uncanceled care time reservations. Janakkala is also currently planning to introduce a fee related to uncanceled care time reservations.
We hope that you will check the care time reservations you have made and cancel in good time those that are not needed. Please inform the child’s daycare/family day care provider of any changes as soon as possible. With careful everyday planning we can ensure that children’s daily life in early childhood education is as safe, calm and smooth as possible.
Warm thanks for the good cooperation!
