Municipal executive: Leppäkoski’s detached house plots are being modified through detailed planning

At the municipal executive of Janakkala’s final meeting of the spring session on June 15, 2026, among other items the zoning of Leppäkoski’s Stoltinkorpi will be decided.

There are still 17 unsold plots in the Stoltinkorpi detached house area, and in recent years it has been suggested that the plots should be larger so they would sell better. The zoning amendment aims to respond to possible plot size change needs of both current and new residents.

The total area of the planning area is approx. 4.2 ha. Privately owned plots can be enlarged by the zoning amendment if their owners are willing. Otherwise the plot division will be at least partially redone. The zoning area also includes park and street areas.

Changes to job descriptions in the welfare division

In addition, among the matters to be decided is the reorganization of tasks in the welfare division. The position of Head of library and culture was proposed to be abolished as part of the earlier co-operation negotiations, whereupon tasks will be reorganized. If the Head of library and culture position is abolished, the Head of youth services’ post will be changed to Head of youth and culture, and the title of the Special library clerk will be changed to Head librarian.

The weak economic development affecting the whole of Finland is reflected in the unemployment figures

In addition, the municipal executive is informed of the April employment review.
At the end of April 2026 there were 680 unemployed jobseekers in Janakkala, which was 32 more than a year earlier. The share of unemployed jobseekers in the labour force was 9.0 percent. The unemployment rate was still lower than the averages for Kanta-Häme 11.0 %  and the whole country 12.1 %.

There were 241 long-term unemployed and 69 unemployed jobseekers under 25. The municipality’s labour market situation is characterized especially by an increase in long-term unemployment. At the end of the month there were 203 open vacancies.

In the Etelä-Häme employment area Janakkala’s unemployment rate was higher than in Hausjärvi and Loppi, but clearly lower than in Riihimäki. Overall, Janakkala’s employment situation in April 2026 was better than the county and national level, even though the number of unemployed increased from a year earlier. Promoting employment continues to emphasize preventing long-term unemployment and supporting transitions to the labour market.
