Information security breach in the attachments of the education committee’s agenda

Janakkala has notified the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman of a data security breach discovered on Wednesday April 8, 2026.

The data security breach relates to the item on the education committee’s agenda concerning school closures and to an unusually extensive set of preparatory materials. The appendix to the item contained information recorded in citizens’ submissions that should have been processed in accordance with data protection requirements before publication.

The submissions were checked on April 8 before the education committee meeting and an effort was made to process the material in accordance with data protection requirements. When it became clear that there were still errors in the processing of the material, the appendix was removed from public view on April 10.

All parties concerned have been informed of the matter.
We are very sorry for what happened.
