Crowdsorsa has inspired even young people to participate in invasive alien species control

Crowdsorsing in Janakkala has started off well. More than half of the game budget has been used so far and 23 participants have already taken part. Janakkala is offering a total of 2,000 euros to participants in the game. With the Crowdsorsa mobile app, invasive alien species — Himalayan balsam and lupin — will be controlled on areas owned by the municipality in summer 2026.

Currently 43.48% of Janakkala’s participants are teenagers.
– The aim was to use gamification to activate and encourage young residents to take part in the eradication of invasive alien species, says environmental planner Juulia Juslin.

The Janakkala game ends when the Crowdsorsa control budget has been used up, or at the latest on August 31, 2026. Anyone can take part in invasive alien species control with Crowdsorsa, and there’s still plenty of time to join.
