ÄÄNI is the young people’s own feedback channel
Children and young people in Janakkala have their very own confidential feedback channel, ÄÄNI. On the form, which opens easily with a QR code, you can write anonymously or with your name about any concern, or equally share things that bring joy to your life.
– The feedback channel was originally created at the request of young people, says learning support coordinator Piia Marttinen.
The desire of children and young people for a low-threshold feedback channel emerged in a school forum, where the matter was discussed like this: Those who monitor the channel would pick out phenomena from there that would then be addressed. According to children and young people, the channel should not be a chat where an immediate answer is expected, but rather a channel intended for recognizing larger phenomena.
You do not have to answer the form’s ready-made questions, but at the same time it is used to map how young people are doing. ÄÄNI asks, for example, “How do you feel, do you have friends or are some things worrying you?”
– The answers are reviewed a couple of times a month by a working group that includes principals, school and resource coaches, a special youth worker and a school youth worker, Marttinen says.
The channel also reminds that if the matter is urgent, contact one of the adults at the school immediately.
In response to the question “What could be done better in Janakkala for the benefit of children and young people?”, young people have wished for more events, hobby-horse obstacles, public recreational places, more benches and better school food. There has also been concern about young people vaping.
When asked what was positive in Janakkala, the responses include school food, group-building days, nice schools and school social worker services, as well as good opportunities for sports.
Feedback is always forwarded to the responsible parties, such as sports facility requests to the Head of Sports services.
ÄÄNI is intended for children and young people of all ages who can write, and it is promoted with QR codes in school premises.
