We have accepted a proposal to improve the accessibility of nature destinations in Janakkala through partnership table work.
The partnership table is now looking for interested individuals who have ideas and expertise to promote this matter.
The first meeting of the partnership table will be held online on Wed, December 13 at 5 PM – 7 PM.
Familiarize yourself with the original idea below and the partnership table work and sign up.

“Janakkala has various natural attractions whose accessibility and usability can be improved in the partnership table.
Not all natural attractions have proper guidance. Local people might know where to go. For example, the Suurisuon sign is rusty and covered by vegetation. And it is certainly not the only place where guidance can be improved. What about where one can and should park the car while hiking?
In natural attractions, one walks under the everyman’s right, but in some places, access can be improved with walkways, short railings, or permanent ropes.
Laurinmäki has beautifully renovated signage. The signs also consider the ease of access to the trails. Even a small color point on the signpost makes it more visible in nature.
Information about vegetation and animals can also be provided through guidebooks, which can be made available electronically.
What if the hiker longs for a live guide? Who can they contact? Are there operators in different associations or does the municipality have a guide list?”

1st meeting December 13, 2023

The key associations represented at the partnership table are: Janakkalan Latu, Janakkalan Luonto and Environment, and the Ilvekset scouts. The Hämeen Recreation Area Association is also involved. After the introduction round, new ideas and nature destinations needing improved guidance were recorded on Padlet. The work on Padlet can continue after the meeting.
Kirsi Roos was elected as the chairperson of the partnership table, and Leena Joutsenniemi as the secretary. It was agreed that future meetings will be held in person.

2nd meeting January 18, 2024, at 4:30 PM

We continued to review the sites and their needs. There is work to be done in developing both the sites themselves and their guidance. Digital accessibility should also be improved. Next time, the sites should be prioritized and a decision made on the order in which to implement things. Requests for improvements to Suurisuon have been communicated to UPM.

3rd meeting February 19, 2024, at 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM

We listed the sites where the goal is to place You are Here guide maps and road signs. We reviewed canoe launch sites and ordered traffic signs for them. Their placement was agreed upon. Two nature and wilderness guide students will be making route proposals for Leppäkoski and Kalpalinna ridge. It was decided to compile all service providers related to hiking, such as snowshoe rental, on the nature pages of the website.

4th meeting April 16, 2024

The exact locations for the upcoming guide maps and road signs were marked on the map. We discussed plans for the summer; Janakkalan Latu will map the exact location of the ridge trail, and Janakkalan Luonto and Environment will work on additional routes for the Mallinkaistenjärvi hiking area so that a circular route can be created at the northern end. Traffic signs have been ordered for landing sites along the canoeing routes. A draft canoeing map has been made. Permission has been obtained for the nature destinations map.

5th meeting August 13, 2024

The canoeing map was received from the printer in early summer. Janakkalan Ilvekset and JLY have been installing canoe signs and new road signs around Janakkala. Latu has digitized the ridge trail. We discussed map signs that should be installed in the field during the fall. We will request a quote. We considered a “welcome gate” for Mallinkaiset. The table group at Ahilampi also needs updating if funds allow.

6th meeting September 23, 2024

We finalized the content of the upcoming guide maps for the field and agreed on their installation by scouts and JLY volunteers. It was decided to order a new table for Ahilampi from our own people. Janakkalan Latu is creating a new nature trail near its cabin, and it was agreed that a toilet for free use will be ordered for the area using partnership table funds. Wilderness guide students have practiced route proposals for both Kalpalinna ridges and Leppäkoski Rahitunmäki. We will ask the landowner for permission to mark the Rahitunmäki route both on the map and perhaps in the field in the future. It was agreed that the table’s funds will be used to create new routes in Mallinkaiset.

Nature destinations and action proposals raised in the meeting.
