Volunteer work in public areas
Would you like to organize a volunteer day? We can help! You’re welcome to organize various clean-up and invasive species volunteer events on public areas. We can provide you with garbage bags, lend you safety vests and litter pickers, and collect the filled bags from a previously agreed location. If you’re working near roads, wearing a safety vest is mandatory! Please note that garden waste or other trash from private properties must not be brought to these clean-ups — property owners are responsible for their own waste. Also, during clean-up events, metal and hazardous waste must be sorted separately.
Follow these steps:
- Once your volunteer group is assembled, appoint a responsible person. Their task is to create the volunteer announcement and act as the contact person.
- Create the volunteer announcement to Janakkala’s feedback service at least a week before the event.
- Select for subject: Talkooilmoitus
- In the feedback text field: the date and location of the event, the subject (clean-up or invasive species event), and the estimated number of participants. Add point locations on the map where the garbage bags will be left. Also indicate if you need safety vests, garbage bags, or litter pickers.
- Contact information of the volunteer coordinator
Alternatively, you can also call the maintenance work manager during office hours.
