A proposal has been made for a partnership table to consider the initiation of moped workshop activities in Turenki. The moped workshop activities that previously existed in Turenki have diminished, but the need has not disappeared.

The moped workshop activities require facilities, supplies, and skilled individuals to guide the youth. Do you feel you have ideas or keys to solutions for starting the workshop? Were you involved in previous activities, would you bring your expertise to this partnership table?

The first meeting on Wed 6.9.2023

During the meeting, it was noted that the biggest challenge in restarting the activities is finding a new space. It should be centrally located yet somewhat out of the way so that vehicles can be tested outside. The location affects how many hang-around people come to the site. A short distance from the center would therefore be beneficial.

Janakkalan Nuorison Tuki ry would be willing to continue managing the operations if a space is found.
It was agreed that we will look for a space through an open search on social media and by investigating known potential spaces.

The requirements for the space are:

  • approximately 100 -150 m2
  • water point
  • WC
  • heating
  • a floor drain would be good or, for example, an outdoor water point
  • lockable cabinet/area
  • Activities would take place about 1 -2 times a week.

The second meeting on 27.9.

A possible space has been found with an optimal location near Turenki’s center.
The owner of the space was present at the event, and discussions took place regarding what kind of use there would be and what the space requires before it is ready for use. It was noted that a possible start for the workshop activities could be around mid-November. The owner will confirm whether the space is available and will consider the amount of rent.
Young people have been asked about their interest in workshop activities, and there seems to be interest. The next meeting will be held at the hall under consideration, provided the owner continues to give a green light to the plans.

The third meeting on 11.10.

The meeting was held at the hall, and an agreement has been reached with the owner regarding the use of the space. The agreement will initially be made for the end of 2023 and for 2024. Further negotiations can take place. The activities will be held on Thursdays from 5 PM to 7:30 PM, as well as on some Saturdays. The rental agreement will be made between the company and Janakkalan Nuorison Tuki ry, although the rent will be paid from the partnership table, i.e., municipality funds. Jantu will go through the moped workshop activities in its own board. The next challenge is to find more adult supervisors to join the activities, with at least two adults present each time. Sign up!

The last meeting on 26.10. at 4:30 PM

At the meeting, a space usage agreement was signed between Janakkalan Nuorison Tuki ry and Finnreha-Handi Finland, which rents spaces for the motor workshop activities. The aim is to get the activities started by the end of the year, but it still requires, among other things, organization within the space. The partnership table has concluded its work, but cooperation among participants continues, especially in recruiting supervisors.

Opening on 9.12.

The opening of the moped workshop will be celebrated on 9.12. 2023 from 1 PM to 3 PM at Harvialantie 15. (Finnreha-Handi’s hall)
The activities still need more supervisors. Interested? Please contact Jantu: tommia.laine@hotmail.com
