Moose and predator animal damages
What is compensated?
You can apply for compensation for damages caused by large game animals to crops and livestock, as well as damages caused by large predators (wolverine, lynx, bear, wolf) to crops, livestock, or property.
• Compensation for crop damage covers damages caused by moose and large predators to fields, gardens, nurseries, and harvested crops.
• Compensation for livestock damage covers damages caused by large game animals to domestic animals, as well as damages caused by large predators to domestic animals, livestock, honey crops, and fences, buildings, and other similar structures used for animal husbandry.
• Compensation for property damage covers damages caused by large predators to property other than the aforementioned inanimate property.

• Report the damage immediately to the Rural Services Unit officials in Häme
• Damage from large game animals: form 148
• Damage from predators: form 131
Compensation for damage
- Compensation for crop damage caused by game animals is up to the value of the lost harvest.
- Compensation for damage to domestic animals and other animals caused by game animals is up to the fair value of the animal that was killed or euthanized due to the damage.
- Compensation for property damage and livestock damage caused by large predators is up to the fair value of the damaged property or animal.
