Reading diplomas and literature diplomas
The purpose of the reading diploma lists and tasks is to encourage more reading. If you complete a reading diploma, you will receive a diploma at the end of the grade as a reward for your reading hobby. You will receive the literature diploma at the end of sixth grade if you have completed four reading diplomas during primary school. You can find information about the reading diplomas, book lists and tasks at this link (only in Finnish).
Class sets
Class sets are book packages intended for Janakkala schools. One class set contains at least 25 copies of the same book.
Class library card (also for daycares)
Teachers can get a library card for borrowing desk books and class sets. Daycares can get a group library card.
Material packages (also for daycares)
Teachers and daycare staff can order a material package from the library on a topic of their choice. If the bookmobile visits the school/daycare, we will deliver the materials to the premises. By arrangement you can also pick up the material package from the main library or the Tervakoski library.
Cultural Path (also for daycares)
The Cultural Path is a joint cultural education plan for Janakkala schools and daycares, a tool for equal and accessible culture. The Cultural Path serves as a tool to help schedule various cultural and arts contents into the everyday life of daycares and schools. You can learn more about the Cultural Path at this link.
Nepsy corner
The main library’s Nepsy corner contains ideas for everyday situations for all families with children and especially for families with children who have neuropsychiatric (nepsy) features. The aim of the Nepsy corner is that families will easily find compiled information as well as ideas and practical methods to support a smooth daily life.
The Nepsy corner gathers nepsy-related information and materials as well as a related booklist. From the Nepsy corner you can get ideas, for example, on how to use pictorial support and where to find more information. The booklist includes nepsy-themed books: both non-fiction and novels for children, young people and adults.
Storytime sessions
During storytime sessions a story is read, songs are sung and games are played. Reading aloud is a gift to a child!
At the main library:
- Thursdays at 9.15 AM to 10 AM in the main library’s Satusoppi.
- The first spring storytime is on 8 Jan 2026.
At the Tervakoski library
- Storytime sessions are currently on pause.
Book recommendations
Book recommendations are about encouraging reading and presenting books in an appealing way. You can order primary school book recommendation sessions from the children’s department’s Sanna Salonen. For lower secondary and upper secondary school book recommendations you can order from the adult department’s Liisa Koskinen. From Tervakoski you can request book recommendations from Taina Haukoranta.
