Leppälammintie

The area is accessed from Lammintie, where a sign points to Suurisuo. The birdwatching tower can be reached on foot via a marked nature trail from the parking area, or by car from the direction of Leppälampi.

From the tower, you can observe the lives of birds nesting in the mire and surrounding forests. The most typical species in the area include black grouse, raven, and birds of prey such as osprey, common buzzard, and northern goshawk. In the spruce-dominated forest next to the tower, common nesting species include tits, thrushes, European robin, goldcrest, and two-barred crossbill. Along the boardwalk through the mire, you might even hear the haunting call of the Eurasian golden plover – a rare nesting species in southern Finland.
