Residents of the municipality, as well as communities and foundations operating within the municipality, have the right to make initiatives regarding municipal activities according to Section 23 of the Municipal Act (410/2015). Additionally, users of municipal services have the right to make initiatives concerning that specific municipal service.

An initiative must be made in writing and must include the contact information of the person making the initiative, as well as information on which decision-making body the initiative is addressed to.

The person who made the initiative will be informed of the actions taken in response to the initiative.

If there are at least two percent of the municipality’s residents as initiators, the matter must be addressed within six months from the initiation of the matter.
