Detective youth work and special youth work

Outreach youth work is a social and targeted youth work based on the needs of the young person. In Janakkala, the target group for outreach youth work is young people aged 15-29 who are outside of services or at risk of falling out of the service network.

One can get in touch with outreach services, for example, if they are left without a study place or if something is troubling them in their schooling. If help is needed with planning for the future, there may be plans for independence and having their own apartment, but no knowledge of what to do. Or would it help if someone accompanied them to the office and assisted with official papers.

There is no wrong size or wrong appearance for reaching out; discussing together can bring solutions and opportunities!

Specialized youth work is targeted youth work aimed at supporting individual young people and small groups. The goal of the work may be, for example, supporting life management, strengthening relationships, discovering one’s strengths, or reducing substance use.

The specialized youth worker acts as a companion for individual young people who face challenges in one or more areas of their lives. Additionally, in specialized youth work, various small groups are implemented multidisciplinary as needed.

The mentor can arrange one-on-one meetings with the young person, where they discuss the young person’s situation, carry out various tasks to clarify the situation, and strive to find solutions together for improving the situation.
