Study Trips and Insurance Coverage
Study Trips
During upper secondary school, students participate in various study trips. A personal contribution is required for study trips, which is determined on a trip-by-trip basis. Students are insured during study trips.
If a student wishes to travel independently to the destination of the study trip or stay in the area after the trip, they must inform the teacher responsible for the trip before the trip begins. For underage students, written consent from guardians is also required (e.g., a message to the teacher responsible for the trip). The upper secondary school accident insurance may not cover accidents that occur while the student is traveling independently or if the student remains in the area after the study trip.
Insurance Coverage
Students are accident insured during lessons and in activities organized within the framework of the syllabus, as well as for related outbound and return trips.
Accidents should be reported immediately to the teacher of the study module or the person responsible for the study trip, regardless of whether there will be medical costs. Accidents are treated according to the instructions and referrals of the school nurse or doctor. A loss report should be made at the school as soon as possible with the school secretary or school nurse.
For example, if an accident occurs at school, a school employee will file a loss report to the insurance company. If a car or other motor vehicle is involved in the accident, the treatment costs will be covered by traffic insurance, not accident insurance.
See guidelines for dealing with accidents at school.
Travel Insurance
The municipality has obtained travel insurance for students for international trips in accordance with the annual plan for the implementation of the local curriculum.
