Sports Line
Who Is It For?
For young competitive athletes training with goals.
How Is Training Conducted?
The sports line (URLI) training focuses on both physical training and development. Students in the sports line do morning practices twice a week under the guidance of URLI coaches. The aim of the diverse physical and skill training is to support the students’ own coaching and training programs. The practices are held at outdoor sports facilities in Turenki, the sports hall, the school, and the Kuumola Hall.
How Does URLI Support Upper Secondary Education?
The URLI practices take place during school hours, and the schedules of URLI students are designed to support training. Completing URLI equals five (5) courses/modules on the upper secondary school syllabus. Five courses/modules combined with other physical education courses/modules offered in the school provide a solid foundation for obtaining the upper secondary education diploma in physical education and pursuing further studies in the field of sports.
Considering further studies in the field of sports, URLI also offers the opportunity to approach sports from the perspective of coaching and guidance alongside training. URLI students can utilize and develop their skills through collaborative guidance with the school’s sports class.
If necessary, the school builds athlete-centered study solutions and flexibility for URLI students. These include, for example, online studies during training camps and constructing study programs considering the athlete’s training schedule. Support teaching and support courses/modules also help the student when the training program requires significant time and resources for sports due to camps or competitions.
