Pre-primary education
Pre-primary education supports the child’s development, learning and wellbeing and strengthens a positive self-image in cooperation with guardians. Early childhood education, pre-primary education and comprehensive education form a continuous learning pathway for the child. In pre-primary education we take into account children’s interests, and play has an important role in learning.
The child has the right to receive support for development, learning and wellbeing as soon as the need for support arises.
Pre-primary education is compulsory from the beginning of the school year in which the child turns six. Approximately 700 hours of pre-primary education are provided per school year, and it is free of charge for families.
Enrollment in pre-primary education
Register your child for pre-primary education in February. You can fill out the pre-primary education application in the eDaisy service.
At the same time you can also apply for early childhood education that complements pre-primary education in addition to pre-primary education. Complementary early childhood education means activities that we provide in addition to the free pre-primary education (4 hours per day from 9:00 to 13:00) before and after pre-primary education. Complementary early childhood education is subject to a fee.
