The municipality of Janakkala encourages physical activity through the Oma liikunta digital service, which showcases tailored exercises for the municipality’s playgrounds and sports facilities via instructional videos. Videos can be accessed either through the online map application or via QR codes located on the equipment on-site.

The QR code reveals a video that advises what can be done at that specific location or with that piece of equipment and how to safely perform the exercises. The service also allows users to provide feedback on the sports locations and equipment.

The videos demonstrate exercises that can utilize 170 pieces of equipment throughout the municipality, such as sandboxes, swings, slides, and climbing frames. In the future, QR codes with instructional videos will also be added to gym equipment.

The service has been implemented with a €15,000 government grant awarded by the South Finland Regional State Administrative Agency from the funding for local development grants for active lifestyles.
