Tips for spending the autumn break!

The autumn break in Janakkala will be celebrated in week 42 (October 13-19, 2025).

We will gather tips for enjoying the autumn break. The list may still be updated during the autumn.

Family Hiking October 13, 10 AM – 1 PM

The Family Hiking event is free and guided for the whole family, where you can explore the new Latumaja nature trail. The nature trail is 3.8 kilometers long. You can also choose a 1 km story trail or independently walk a 5 km loop. You can find route descriptions here. The story trail is only implemented for the Family Hiking event.

Remember to bring your own snacks, water bottle, and weather-appropriate gear, as well as a good hiking spirit. There will be a possibility to have a camp fire at the end of the trail at Latumaja.

Autumn break event for children, youth, and families October 13, 11 AM – 3 PM

On Monday, October 13, 2025, a free autumn break event will be held at the Tervakoski Community House, aimed at children, youth, and families. The event originated from a participation day held on May 7, 2025, where school children and the youth council decided to use participation funds for an event aimed at families.

The event will offer diverse programs and activities that support children’s and youth’s participation as well as family time together. The main performer will be the artist ELLIMEI (2 PM). From the Moomin Valley, Moomintroll and Little My will entertain the children.
The event time is from 11 AM to 3 PM.

The event is free to attend.

Autumn break at the Tervakoski swimming hall

During the entire week at the swimming hall, there will be opportunities to complete free swimming badge assessments during your visit to the hall.

Diving hours during the autumn break are Wednesday, October 15, 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM and Friday, October 17, 6 PM – 7 PM.

Science Tuesday on October 14.

Science Tuesday at Tervakoski Library from 12 PM – 1 PM and Janakkala Main Library from 3 PM – 4 PM. Science Tuesday at the libraries for all the Einsteins of your own life! Fun science tasks; get to know scientific tools, pipette new color mixtures, and build candy architecture. The science workshops are guided by cultural producer Satu Ristola.

Youth services’ grilling events for youth and families

On Tuesday, October 14, from 2 PM – 5 PM, we will grill and play at Suruton’s hut.

On Wednesday, October 15, from 2 PM – 5 PM, we will grill and play at Ahilammi’s lean-to.

Sellon viemää concert on October 15, 5:30 PM

On Wednesday evening October 15 at 5:30 PM, we will experience the Sellon viemää concert and embark on a journey of emotions. Renowned cello virtuoso Seeli Toivio will perform at the Janakkala Main Library bringing the atmosphere of iconic movie scores to the evening concert. The concert will feature pieces from Titanic, Narnia, and Schindler’s List, as well as many other gems of film music. It’s not just a listening experience, as the atmosphere will carry the audience away.

Demolition art exhibition at Tervakoski School on October 9-16

Demolition art has revived spaces in the old Tervakoski Coeducational School, creating new stories in the classrooms through artists. The opening of the Demolition Art Exhibition will be held on Thursday evening, October 9, at 6 PM. The exhibition will be open October 9-16 on weekdays from 3 PM – 6 PM and on weekends from 2 PM – 6 PM.

Fairy tale festivities October 18, 1 PM – 4 PM

The national Fairy Tale Day invites you to the Fairy Tale Festivities on Saturday, October 18, from 1 PM – 4 PM at the Tervakoski Community House. The super popular children’s music duo Puistopartio will take the stage with their lively children’s concert at 3 PM! Also present will be fairy tale characters, and there will be disco fun, crafting fairy tale masks, and a delicious buffet. MLL Janakkala local association will also be present, along with amazing vehicles, such as the Janakkala library bus with a lollipop riddle and an exciting truck that you can peek into.

Janakkala dog club’s autumn break week events

On Sunday, October 12, starting at 11 AM, a Match Show for puppies under 12 months. The event will also feature a dog and child class for children under 12 years old (the age of the dog does not matter), as well as a child and toy dog class for children under 5 years old. On the weekend of October 18-19, official agility competitions will be held at the Janakkala dog club hall on Kiianlinnantie. Welcome to watch the competitions, spend time, and learn about the Janakkala dog club’s activities. There will be a canteen on-site where you can buy small snacks. Family Pumpkin Festival at the nature destination Pauninmaa on October 19, 4 PM – 8 PM

The family Pumpkin Festival at the nature destination Pauninmaa on Sunday, October 19, from 4 PM – 8 PM.
This year’s event includes:

  • The Forest Witch’s nature trail, where you can solve the witch’s tasks along the way and visit the Witch in the dark play-fishing (it’s recommended to bring your own forehead/headlamp).
  • The Ghost Cave, where exciting surprises await when it gets dark.
  • A labyrinth, will you find your way out?
  • Precision tasks, where you can test how accurately you throw balls into the pumpkin mouth.
  • Color your own pumpkin magnet, which you can take home with you.
  • Glitter tattoos that will still sparkle after the event.
  • A pumpkin-themed competition with a surprise prize.
  • Outdoor lights will be lit to illuminate the darkening evening after 5:30 PM.
  • A kota kiosk, where you can find homemade donuts, sausage for roasting over the fire, popcorn, juice, and coffee.

Advance tickets are 5 €/person until October 12, after which tickets are 10 €/person. Children under 2 years old get in for free.
