Threat situation at Tervakoski coeducational school

At Tervakoski coeducational school on Tuesday, 10 February there was a threatening situation in which a pupil threatened others with violence but did not physically injure anyone. The pupil is in police custody.

Teachers followed safety instructions and directed the school’s pupils to their classrooms. The pupil who threatened with violence, under 15 years old, was taken into police custody from the schoolyard.
Information about the incident will be sent to homes via Wilma.

– The situation will be reviewed with pupils during lessons and the school will have a school social worker, a school nurse and a school psychologist on site on Wednesday; pupils can approach them easily, says principal Heli Raassina.

The incident will also be reviewed with staff from a safety perspective.

Youth services workers will be at the Varikko youth centre in Tervakoski today from 14:30 to 20:30. You can also talk to them about the incident.

The police were present with several patrol units, as were emergency medical services. The police suspect an unlawful threat. Because the pupil who threatened with violence is a minor, the preliminary investigation will not proceed to the prosecutor; instead a multidisciplinary Anchor Team will handle the case. At this stage the police have no information about the motive.
