The strategic work of Janakkala has progressed to overarching themes
The steering group meeting for the strategy work and service network plan focused on the strategy process on September 15, 2025.
The steering group reviewed, among other matters, the results of the resident survey and the overarching themes and statements derived from the first council strategy workshop.
The overarching themes that have emerged are:
- growth (How to attract new residents and prevent out-migration?)
- work (How to create jobs and promote local entrepreneurship?)
- future (How to ensure that Janakkala remains vibrant in 2030?)
- connection (How do transportation, accessibility, and digital services support daily life and attractiveness?)
- community (How to increase participation, community spirit, and a positive atmosphere?)
- image (How to build Janakkala as a distinctive and attractive municipality?).
There are numerous statements for each theme, such as “Janakkala must offer attractive plots and diverse housing for different life situations” or “The change in the age structure of the population must be considered in the planning and investment of services”. The next task for the council is to summarize and make choices about what to focus on in the municipality’s strategy. The goal is to continue with three themes. The council’s next strategy workshop is on Monday, September 22.
The steering group also approved the participation plan for the strategy work, which includes several events.
The first will be the associations’ strategy evening on October 1 and the businesses’ strategy event on October 23. Staff will work in workshops, and several events open to residents will be organized in November.
The steering group also addressed the communication plans for both the strategy work and the service network planning. In both cases, updates about the progress of the projects will be communicated interactively and through multiple channels.
Regarding the service network planning, the steering group approved the preliminary schedule for the preparation
and the principles for preparation and decision-making.
