The service network and strategy steering group reviewed the current state of the service network

The Service network work and strategy steering group decided at its meeting on 27 October 2025 that the guiding principles of the service network plan will be derived from the municipal strategy to be approved in December.

In addition, the steering group reviewed material on the current state of the service network. The current state descriptions include information on services provided by the municipality, their statutory nature, the number of residents using the services, and the condition of properties as well as their repair needs. After the service network’s current state survey, preparation will proceed to factors and needs for changes affecting services, such as changes in the population age structure and service needs.

As part of the strategy preparation, the steering group was presented with ideas gathered in staff workshops and input from the companies’ strategy evening. Staff hope for a combination of realism and renewal: the courage to reform, but within the financial framework. The business sector is asking the municipal strategy for courage with a capital C.

– The steering group’s spirit is good and we have, in a shared understanding, identified the need for change. Now we want to decide for ourselves how Janakkala will be involved in a changing world, says the steering group’s chair Reijo Löytynoja.
