The municipal executive requires that the municipality’s finances be balanced during the planning period

The Janakkala municipal executive unanimously decided in its two-day budget meeting on October 21, 2025, that the trend of deficits must be halted and serious efforts must be made to balance the economy.
The aim is to ensure that the municipality’s finances are balanced by the end of the planning period.

The municipal executive decided that the financial balancing program must achieve savings of 0.5-1 million euros by 2026. The balancing program will be prepared as a matter of urgency and will be presented to the municipal board for decision on December 15, 2025. The program will be prepared under the leadership of the chief executive as part of official work.

Additionally, a savings target was set for the ongoing service network planning, with savings of 1-2 million euros in 2027 and 2028.
Regarding investments, the municipal executive requires that more affordable options be prepared in the project plan for the second phase of the Turenki school and multi-purpose center (investment of 17.3 million euros and equipment purchases of 1.3 million.) without altering the project’s timeline.

– The goal is ambitious, but we have time to achieve it. The balancing work will be done thoughtfully and carefully, says the chair of the municipal executive Reijo Löytynoja.

– Once the finances are balanced, we can look to the future with confidence.

The municipal executive did not make significant changes to the budget document itself. One proposed change in the budget, establishing a new position of a joint director of education and wellbeing for the welfare and education divisions, instead of the current educational director, was removed from the proposal.

The municipal council will consider the budget on November 10, 2025.
