The council approved the strategy

The Janakkala municipal council approved (8 Dec) Janakkala’s new municipal strategy for 2026-2040.

Our vision is: VITALITY THROUGH COURAGE
In 2040 Janakkala is a vital municipality where bold actions and choices have secured the municipality’s independence. We dare to develop and try new things, to make bold decisions that create the future. For us, courage means that we do not wait for the future, we build it.

There is only one value: Courage.

Janakkala’s senior and disability advisory board takes the lead in participating in municipal council meetings

The municipal council also approved changes to the rules of procedure, which will come into effect on 1 Jan 2026. Among other things, an addition was made to the rules of procedure giving the senior and disability advisory board the right to appoint its representative and a personal deputy to the welfare committee and to the municipal council, with the right to be present and to speak. At least among the municipalities in the Oma Häme service area, Janakkala is the first whose senior and disability advisory board participates in council meetings.

The municipal council also approved a small organizational change whereby the municipal development result area will be dissolved; the biggest change is the transfer of the head of vitality post to the technical division.

The municipal council also approved the third budget amendment for the current year, which the municipal executive handled in an extra meeting the same day. The changes improve the fiscal year’s result by approx. 250,000 €, resulting in an anticipated deficit of approx. 1,700,000 € for the fiscal year.
