Janakkala celebrates its 160th anniversary throughout the year

Janakkala municipality celebrates its 160th anniversary this year.

The parish meeting of Janakkala convened on June 10, 1866 to consider the implementation of the municipal decree issued the previous year. That decree made possible to form a municipality independent of the parishes. Janakkala’s first municipal meeting was held at Hamppula primary school in Tarinmaa on December 22, 1866.

The anniversary year will be visible in many ways throughout the year, but it will be celebrated with events especially towards the end of the year. All residents and other stakeholders will be invited to the anniversary celebrations.

The events of the anniversary year will be marked with the freely usable hashtag #Janakkala160v.

The jubilee year will begin with a digital series of old photographs carried out together with Janakkala-Seura: “Glimpses into Janakkala’s history”.

More information about Janakkala’s 160th anniversary will be told during the spring.
