Investigation into the moisture damage at Tervakoski Community Hall is underway

The Janakkala municipality and Compass Group Finland issue a joint statement regarding the situation at Tervakoski Community Hall (Tervakosken Seuratalo) and the correction related to school meal billing.

Moisture damage at the Community Hall

Moisture damage was detected at Tervakoski Community Hall on 17.11.2025. The cause of the moisture damage is not yet known. The Janakkala municipality and Compass Group Finland are investigating the matter together.

To clarify the matter, a technical inspection of the premises will next be carried out by an external expert. The inspection will be conducted before the floor repairs begin.

The Community Hall’s floor will be renovated, with work scheduled to start at the beginning of March and estimated to last approximately two months. During the renovation, the movie theater and its associated restrooms will be out of service. Other activities at the Community Hall will continue as normal. The renovation may cause noise disturbance in other areas.

If it is determined that the moisture damage was clearly caused by Compass Group’s operations, the company will compensate the municipality for the damages incurred.

An error was detected in the meal billing for the schools of Janakkala municipality in October 2025. Compass Group, which supplies meals to the schools, has corrected its billing procedure guidelines after the error came to light. Compass Group has returned to the municipality in full the amount it overcharged during 2025.
