Cultural services event support – how to apply
Are you planning a concert, theatre performance, festival or other cultural event that would bring people together in Janakkala? Now is a great time to start planning! The Janakkala municipal events grant provides an opportunity to carry out art and cultural events open to everyone also in 2026.
In 2025 the events grant attracted a lot of interest, which meant the annual appropriation of 5,000 € was fully distributed by the end of June.
To ensure the appropriation is distributed more evenly across events throughout the year, it has been split into two separate application periods for 2026. This also makes it possible to receive more comparable applications at each application round.
Events grant 2026
The events grant is aimed at cultural events open to everyone held in Janakkala: primarily associations and activity groups that do not receive operating subsidies for cultural associations. Support is not granted to private individuals, commercial activities or events that have already taken place.
In 2026 grants will be awarded in two rounds. Support can be applied for art and cultural events such as concerts, theatre performances, theme days and festivals. The maximum support for a single event is 800 €, and the same applicant can receive event support once per calendar year. A total of 5,000 € will be awarded in 2026.
Recipients of the events grant undertake to mention the support from the municipality of Janakkala in connection with the event, to report on the event within a month and to use the support only for the purpose for which it was granted. Clear instructions help both the organizer and the municipality ensure that the support serves shared cultural wellbeing in the best possible way.
Application periods in 2026:
- 1st application period: 13 Jan – 15 Feb 2026
Support for events held between 1 Mar – 31 Jul 2026
Appropriation: 2,500 € - 2nd application period: 13 Apr – 15 May 2026
Support for events held between 1 Aug – 31 Dec 2026
Appropriation: 2,500 €

Who received events grants in 2025?
The grants awarded in 2025 supported a wide range of summer events, concert series, theatre and children’s events. In 2025 the events grant recipients were: Stall Forström summer festival 800€, Vähikkälä Heinäpäivät – summer event 800€, Dialogia Festival Association – Talvinen matka concert series 800€, Theatre Club Tribuna Association – actors’ meeting 500€, Tarinmaanseutu village association – theatre performance 400€, Tervakoski women’s choir – celebratory concert 800€, Janakkala MLL local association – children’s art workshop 200€ and Iloa lapsille working group – music and children’s event 700€. A total of 5,000€ was distributed. The recipients of the largest grants also had substantial self-financing/other funding in their event projects, which demonstrated strong commitment to delivering the events and financial responsibility.
