Changes to fees for schoolchildren’s after-school activities

The education committee decided on 18.2.2026, under the obligations of the financial balancing program, on changes to schoolchildren’s after-school activities effective 1.8.2026.

The service fee will be 150€/month for the family’s first child instead of the previous 110€, and 75€/month for each subsequent child. It will be charged if the family’s combined gross income exceeds 4,000€/month.
The municipality will no longer transport pupils to another school for after-school activities.

During the current school year, pupils from schools where no after-school activity group was formed have been transported to the nearest school where after-school activities were arranged. This results in approximately 7,600€ in transport costs.

State subsidies for after-school activities are also decreasing. In 2025, state aid of 104,244€ was received and customer fee revenues were 96,292€. In 2026 we will receive a state subsidy of 77,602€.

Currently 122 pupils participate in after-school activities. Of these pupils, 27.05% (33 pupils) do not pay the service fee.

The minutes of the education committee will be published here after review. (in Finnish)
