Café operator wanted for Laurinmäki
Application for a café operator at Laurinmäki is open.
Janakkala municipality is seeking a café operator for summer 2026 for Laurinmäki’s Yellow House. The café operator sought is primarily a company or an association. A cooperation agreement to operate as the summer café at Laurinmäki is a unique opportunity, as no rent or usage fees are charged for the premises. The café operations are part of the Laurinmäki nature and culture area complex, and the cooperation concerns organizing the museum’s café services as part of the museum complex.
Tasks of the café operator:
- procures and/or prepares the café products and refreshments for sale and retains the revenue from sales;
- may sell their own art, handicraft, or other products suitable for the setting in connection with the café;
- remits to the municipality the voluntary museum fees for the croft museum;
- handles the municipality’s product sales;
- keeps the Yellow House’s interior and yard area tidy, and
- updates social media channels as part of their responsibilities.
The following are considered advantages for the position:
- previous experience in arranging coffee services and events;
- good collaboration skills, and/or
- enthusiasm to participate in enlivening the Laurinmäki museum through café activities.
The café operator must have a valid food hygiene certificate.
Premises and equipment
The kitchen facilities mainly include the equipment and appliances needed for coffee brewing, baking, cold storage and dishwashing. The café operator may, if desired, bring their own refrigerators and necessary equipment for the summer, such as a refrigerated display case for presenting products.
The café operator must have:
- their own point-of-sale system and
- a payment terminal agreement for accepting payments.
Opening hours and contract period
The summer café is open according to the museum’s opening hours for the period June 7 – August 1, 2026, Wednesday to Sunday from 11:00 to 17:00.
The café operator chosen through the application has the opportunity to discuss a continued cooperation agreement after the summer.
