Situated 15 kilometers from the center of Turenki, Suurisuo is one of the most popular nature destinations in Janakkala. From spring to autumn, the mire features magnificent views from morning to evening. It is known that Suurisuo hosts several endangered and rare plant, insect, and bird species. For this reason, the mire is an important site for education, research, and hiking. Long boardwalks allow access in four different directions. Different areas feature various plants and mire types. There are also many excellent berry-picking areas nearby. A birdwatching tower has been built close to Suurisuo, from which one can observe various bird species. It also offers spectacular views of the mire. The bird tower can be accessed via boardwalks that cross the mire, and there is also a widening for vehicles nearby, making it possible to arrive by car.
