Lauri’s Winter Activities on February 7, 2026
Welcome to the free winter outdoor activity day for the whole family! Register at the track stations, hop on skis, skates, woolen socks or snowshoes and enjoy fresh air and delicious refreshments.
Due to the lack of snow, the traditional Laurin Latu ski touring event will this year be organized as a set of local events, with the main focus on ski tracks made on the ice. On Lake Alasjärvi in Tervakoski, Lake Kuotolanjärvi in Tarinmaa, Lake Lastujärvi in Turenki, and the Hiidenjoki River in Turenki you can ski on classic tracks and a skate-skiing lane prepared on the ice. At Kuotolanjärvi there is also an ice skating track, and on the Hiidenjoki River a small ice skating area.
On the lit outdoor trails in Tervakoski and Turenki, the trail bases have been packed, but there is not enough snow to set classic tracks. From the Taappola field (branching off from the Lintuvuori–Konttila connecting trail toward Tanttala) and from Kiipula you can ski on a packed trail base leading to Hakola Berry Farm. A partial classic track may still be added along this route. At Hakola Berry Farm there is also a ski loop of about one kilometer made on a hay field.
The track stations will offer varying coffee sales from refreshments to soup lunches, so it is a good idea to bring cash as not all places accept MobilePay or card payments.
In addition to Janakkala municipality’s sports services and outdoor route maintenance, the event is organised with the help of associations: Janakkalan Jana ry’s skiing section and Finnish baseball players, Tarinmaa Region Village Association, Riihimäki Figure Skaters, Janakkalan Latu ry and the parents and pupils of Tanttala school, as well as local companies such as Kiipula Guest House, Hakola Berry Farm, Christina’s cake, Jokipoliisit and Parola Bike Repair. Thank you to Janakkala Parish for allowing the use of the lean-to on Lake Kuotolanjärvi and to everyone else who contributes to making the event a success.
The forecasts are calling for brisk freezing temperatures in the morning, with a light breeze making it feel even colder. In the afternoon, the cold is expected to ease.
Please remember that participation in the event is at your own risk.
