In the vicinity of the Turenki town, along the hiking trail, the breeding species of Lake Lastujärvi include the red-crested pochard, the great crested grebe, and the black-throated diver. In late autumn, good aggregations of the tufted duck, the goldeneye, the common pochard, and the scaup have been observed at the lake. Blackbirds and common redpolls are common every autumn. From the shores, one might spot a day-roosting owl, some game birds, or even a gray-headed woodpecker.
