Located just outside the Turenki center and along a local outdoor trail, Lake Lastujärvi is home to several interesting breeding birds, including the common pochard, red-necked grebe, and black-necked grebe.

In late autumn, the lake often hosts impressive gatherings of pintails, smews, greater scaups, and long-tailed ducks. White-winged and velvet scoters are also regular visitors during the fall migration season.

The lake’s shoreline and nearby forests are good places to spot resting owls, grouse, or even a grey-headed woodpecker during the day.
