The main election day for the European Parliament elections is Sunday, June 9, 2024, polling places will be open from 9 AM to 8 PM.

A voter is allowed to vote only in the polling area and polling place indicated on the notification card sent to them.

Each eligible voter can vote in advance at any general advance voting location in the country. The Ministry of Justice publishes the addresses and voting times of general advance voting places on its election pages. Voters can also inquire about them at the ministry’s free service number 0800 9 4770. A list of general advance voting locations in the voter’s home municipality along with their addresses and opening hours will be attached to the notification card sent to each eligible voter.

Home Voting

A person whose mobility or functioning is restricted, making it difficult for them to access a voting or advance voting place, can register for home voting. A caregiver living in the same household as the eligible voter can also vote during home voting. The caregiver’s voting must be reported to the central electoral committee at the same time as registering for home voting.

Home voting takes place during the advance voting period from May 29 to June 4, from 9 AM to 7 PM, at a specific time informed to the voter.

Registration for home voting must be done by Tuesday, May 28, 2024, by 4 PM, either by phone at 050 573 4038 or in writing to the Janakkala municipal central electoral committee, Juttilantie 1, 14200 Turenki. The registration can also be done by a person chosen by the voter on their behalf. For more information about home voting, contact the secretary of the central electoral committee.

Advance Voting in Institutions

Voting in institutions takes place during the advance voting period from May 29 to June 4. More information about voting times will be provided in the institutions’ departments. Only those receiving care in the institutions are allowed to vote.

Notification of Voting Rights

The Digital and Population Data Services Agency will send a notification card regarding voting rights to every person registered in the voter register whose address is known, no later than May 16, 2024. If there is an error in the information on the notification card or if the notification has not been received, a correction request must be made to the Digital and Population Data Services Agency using the correction request form by May 24, 2024, before 4 PM.

Remember Identification

At the polling place, you must present proof of identity, such as a driver’s license, passport, police-issued ID card, or a photo Kela card.
